What is MX record?
The DNS record that tells the world which mail server receives email for your domain.
An MX (mail exchanger) record directs email sent to @yourbusiness.com to the right mail server. If your MX records point to the wrong place, your website stays online but your inbox silently stops receiving mail — which is why they matter so much when setting up business email. MX records include a priority number so a backup mail server can take over if the first one is down. You can inspect the MX records of any domain with our DNS lookup tool.
